So the new book should show up soon.
I'm sure all will not go as smoothly as I hope and hope to share some lessons learned.
If you ever need to rebrand your books -- changing titles and covers, I will let you know what I found out.
Through research on the Kindle Forums on Amazon, I found out that you shouldn't create a new book, rather you should overwrite your old one with the new cover files and manuscript files. A few people posted stories about how their books got yanked from the site because the same book was published under two different names--and I think this rule is to protect customers from buying the same book twice more than anything else.
Anyway, if Amazon deems the change to be significant enough they may actually create an entirely new book file for your book. That might mean you lose your old reviews and have to start all over again.
One author wrote a lengthy piece about how she rebranded her book--changing cover and title and Amazon unlinked the book from its old reviews. I don't know how much her actually stories changed, that may have something to do with it.
My content hasn't changed so significantly to warrant that. I did publish it as a Second Edition but it's certainly the same story. Most of my books got pretty decent reviews but the new books will definitely eliminate many of the problems readers had issues with in the old versions. So, overall, the new reviews might average out better in the future, but I will cross that bridge when I get to it. Right now, I'm expecting my old reviews to link to my new version. By tomorrow, I will know what Amazon plans to do with the book and the reviews. I will let you know when I find out.
In the meantime, tomorrow will be another busy busy day but I will definitely be making time for Motivation Monday and already have a great story in mind. So, stay tuned!
