This week a Tom Hanks stars in a Cold War drama based on the 1960 U-2 incident, the film is set during the Cold War and tells the story of lawyer James B. Donovan who is entrusted with negotiating the release of Francis Gary Powers—a pilot whose U-2 spy plane was shot down over the Soviet Union—in exchange for Rudolf Abel, a captive Soviet KGB spy held under the custody of the United States (Source: Wikipedia).
I've heard about this once or twice in my career -- and similar events have happened throughout history, including one trade very publicly just a few years ago when the FBI arrested Russian illegals in NY and Russia made a deal to get them back. I think, based on my open source research, it may happen again in the near future. But we shall see if the situation comes to fruition the way I assess it will.
So I'm excited very excited to see this story on the big screen. It's real. It has happened. It will happen again.
